APPLICATION | ||||
N-methylpyrrolidone (NMP) is a polar aprotic transfer solvent. It has low toxicity, high boiling point and outstanding solubility. Strong selectivity and good stability. Widely used in aromatics extraction, acetylene, olefin, diolefin purification, polyvinylidene fluoride solvent, lithium ion battery electrode auxiliary materials, syngas desulfurization, lubricating oil refining, lubricating oil antifreeze, olefin Chemicalbook extractant, insoluble engineering plastics polymerization solvent, agricultural herbicides, insulation materials, integrated circuit production, Semiconductor industry precision instruments, circuit board cleaning,PVC tail gas recovery, cleaning agent, dye additives, dispersant, etc. Also used in polymer solvent and polymerization medium, such as engineering plastics and aramid fiber. In addition, it can also be used in pesticide, medicine and detergent.
Methods of production | |||
It is produced by the reaction of gamma-butyllactone with methylamine. The reaction begins with gamma-butyllactone and methylamine to form 4-hydroxy-n-methylbutyamide, followed by dehydration to form N-methylpyrrolidone. The two-step reaction can be conducted continuously in a tubular reactor with a molar ratio of γ-butyllactone to methylamine of 1:1.5, a pressure of about 6MPa and a temperature of 250℃. After the reaction is complete, the finished product is concentrated and distilled under pressure. The yield is 90%. If the kettle type antichemicalbook is used for production, the dosage of methylamine is 1.5-2.5 times of the theoretical amount, taking laboratory preparation as an example. 2mol gamma-butylactone and 4 mol liquid methylamine were added into a 500ml heat presser, heated in closed condition, and kept at 280℃ for 4h. After cooling, excess methylamine is released, distilled, and 180g of product is obtained by 201-202℃ fraction, with a yield of about 90%. Raw material consumption (kg/g) gamma-butyllactone 980 methylamine (40%) 860
