Advantages of DCPD

DCPD has many advantages over traditional materials such as fiberglass, wood, steel or thermoplastic polymers.DCPD reaction injection molding can produce parts of unprecedented dimensions compared to standard injection molding.Produce parts with surface areas up to 120 square feet (11.15 square meters) and thicknesses up to 12 inches (300 mm). Even a small DCPD part can have a size of 8 to 10 square feet (800 square millimeters to 1 square meter) the absolute upper limit of a standard injection mold.Despite their large size, DCPD components are strong, flexible, and most importantly lightweight, with an excellent strength-to-weight ratio and an average density of just 1.03 g/cc.Due to its low weight,DCPD is also good for the environment vehicles with bumpers, body panels, spoilers or fenders made from DCPD are more fuel-efficient than vehicles using more traditional, heavier materials.

DCPD is impact resistant and has been described as "virtually unbreakable".It performs exceptionally well after severe or repeated impacts, extreme heat and even exposure to a wide range of chemicals.In the rare cases where it does crack, DCPD is easy to repair compared to metal or wood in similar situations.Like our LFI molds, our DCPD molds allow for additional reinforcement by creating B-side geometry such as ribs.Our DCPD molds can create complex designs, including parts with variable wall thickness.DCPD parts do not require the same multi-cavity molded part geometry.This allows our engineers to be creative and ensures a cost effective solution to our customers.The ability to manufacture more complex parts compared to metals such as steel makes DCPD extremely cost-effective to use as fewer overall parts need to be manufactured to provide the same functionality.

Additionally, parts made using DCPD molds have a smooth, glossy finish that is easy to paint.Although post-mold painting is required, DCPD has excellent adhesion and paints well, making it quick and easy to produce a Class A finish in any color of the iridescent.DCPD reaction injection molding makes everything from the fenders of agricultural machinery to the hoods of large haul trucks.
