Direct water process of propylene

Propylene direct water process is the main industrial production method at present. It is under the condition of catalyst, by the high purity of propylene and water directly hydration to produce isopropyl alcohol, but also a byproduct of n-propyl alcohol.
Direct hydration of propylene to produce isopropanol mainly includes three methods: gas phase direct hydration, liquid phase direct hydration and gas-liquid miscible hydration, which are the most widely used production methods in the world at present. Among them, the gas phase direct hydration method is represented by the Weba method developed by The German Weba company with phosphoric acid/diatomite as the catalyst, and the liquid phase direct hydration method is represented by the solution catalytic method of Tokuyama Tsura Company with tungsten-based multi-anionic water solution (such as silicotungstate) as the catalyst. The gas-liquid miscibility method is represented by the ion exchange resin method of Texaco Germany with tungsten oxide/silica gel as catalyst.

Propylene indirect water process

Propylene indirect hydrology, also known as propylene sulfuric acid hydrology, is to dissolve propylene in sulfuric acid solution topure isopropyl alcohol suppliers - YuanfarChemicals undergo esterification reaction to generate isopropyl hydrogen sulfate and diisopropyl sulfate, and then hydrolysis to get crude isopropyl alcohol, and finally refined isopropyl alcohol products with high purity. The process is complex, the selectivity is low, the regeneration of hydrolyzed esters and sulfuric acid needs to consume a lot of steam, the equipment is seriously corroded, the treatment of waste water and waste gas is difficult, there is certain pollution to the environment, and the consumption of raw materials and production costs are high, so its development is limited to a certain extent. The law was phased out after the 1980s.

Acetone hydrogenation

Acetone, the intermediate in the production of isopropyl alcohol by grain fermentation, has gradually increased in recent years, so the technology of isopropyl alcohol by hydrogenation of acetone has returned to the attention of industrial personnel.
Compared with sulfuric acid indirect water method, acetone hydrogenation has a lower degree of corrosion on production equipment. Acetone hydrogenation method uses copper or zinc oxide as support catalyst or nickel-based catalyst, under the condition of 70-200℃, atmospheric pressure, acetone hydrogenation to isopropyl alcohol. The acetone conversion rate can reach 90%. However, the high cost of acetone raw materials, high production costs and weak economic benefits make it difficult to achieve large-scale industrial expansion of acetone hydrogenation process.
