China's two major lithium mineral resources development plans have been reviewed

Recently, the Ministry of Natural Resources public information shows that the domestic two major lithium resource development and utilization projects through the review, respectively located in Qinghai province and Sichuan Province.

Qinghai Citic Guoan Science and Technology Development Co., LTD. Jinaier Lake lithium mineral resources development and utilization plan shows that Jinaier Lake lithium mineral resources has been explored to keep 2,349,300 tons of lithium chloride liquid ore, the plan design of lithium carbonate construction scale is 25,000 tons/year.

According to the plan of mineral resources development and utilization of Zhaanggou Liberyllium rare metal mine in Jiulong County, Ganzi Prefecture, Sichuan Province, the amount of industrial lithium ore has been explored in Zhaanggou Liberyllium mine, and the amount of Li2O resource is 33,272 tons, with an average grade of 1.253%.
Industry insiders pointed out that the development of the two major lithium resources were approved on the same day, echoing the voice of accelerating the development of domestic lithium.

In recent years, with the rapid development of new energy vehicles and lithium batteries, lithium has been widely concerned andlithium metal for sale - YuanfarChemicals listed as a strategic emerging industry mineral in China. It is understood that the demand for lithium batteries accounts for about 70% of the total demand. As the world's largest lithium battery production and marketing country, China has a complete industrial chain advantage and cost technology advantage, and lithium salt production capacity accounts for about 70% of the global total capacity.

However, from the perspective of upstream resource supply, the global distribution of lithium resources is extremely uneven.
According to the US Geological Survey, the world's lithium resources are mainly distributed in Chile, Australia, China and other countries. In terms of reserves, Chile's proven and economically valuable lithium reserves are about 9.2 million tons, accounting for 44% of the world's total resources, but the development progress is relatively backward. In terms of production, Australia is the core country leading the change in global production, with lithium ore production ranking first in the world for many years, accounting for about 50% of global production.

In contrast, limited by technology and cost, China's lithium ore is still highly dependent on imports. According to customs statistics, in the first quarter of 2022, China's imports of lithium concentrate were 529,000 tons, of which about 502,000 tons were imported from Australia, accounting for about 95%. Agency analysis believes that the current lithium concentrate spot supply is tight, in 2022 and 2023 lithium ore supply and demand gap, 2024 to 2025 this situation is difficult to substantially alleviate, this round of supply and demand mismatch will exceed expectations.

It is urgent to accelerate the development of domestic lithium resources. At the beginning of this year, Guo Shougang, deputy director of the First Equipment Industry Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, also said that the next step, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will overall improve the ability to guarantee key resources, strengthen communication and coordination with Qinghai, Sichuan, Jiangxi and other provinces and cities, to accelerate the development of domestic lithium resources.

From the perspective of the distribution of lithium resources in China, more than 80% of lithium resources in China occur in salt lakes, distributed in Qinghai, Xizang and other provinces. The lithium ore resources are concentrated in Sichuan, Jiangxi, Hunan, Xinjiang and other provinces. The total confirmed lithium ore reserves of Sichuan, Jiangxi and Hunan are 3.126 million tons, accounting for 86.3% of the total lithium ore resources. Lijiagou spodumene deposit located in Sichuan is known as the largest spodumene deposit in Asia which has been proved and obtained the mining right certificate. It is expected that qinghai, Sichuan, Jiangxi and other regions rich in lithium resources will become the hot spot of enterprise investment in the next few years.
