Methods of Lithium

In 1855, Bunsen and Maison used the method of electrolytic melting of lithium chloride to make it, industrial production of lithium was proposed by Gensa in 1893, lithium was identified as an element to industrial production before and after 76 years. Electrolytic lithium chloride production of lithium to consume a lot of electric energy, every ton of lithium consumption up to 60, 70 thousand degrees of electricity.

In industry, lithium can be prepared by the following methods:

Lithium chloride was burned and dried for 1h at a temperature not exceeding its melting point (602℃).

A pyridine solution of 11.81% lithium chloride was prepared by using newly distilled pyridine dehydrated and dried by potassium hydroxide to dissolve the lithium chloride as the electrolyte. Graphite plate as anode, smooth platinum or iron plate as cathode, no diaphragm. The voltage used in electrolysis is 1.4V and the current density is 0.2-0.3a /100cm3

APPLICATION of Lithium

Lithium is closely related to daily life. Lithium ion batteries used in digital products such as laptops, mobile phones and Bluetooth headsets are rich in lithium. Lithium ion battery is a high-energy storage medium. Due to the rapid development of lithium ion battery, the business of lithium ore, lithium carbonate and other companies is booming. Lithium-metal batteries also have military applications.
