Property of sodium borohydride powder
White to grayish white crystalline powder or block, with strong hygroscopicity.
Soluble in water, liquid ammonia, insoluble in ether, benzene, hydrocarbons
[Method 1] Sodium hydride methyl borate method boric acid and appropriate amount of methanol are added to the distillation kettle, slowly heated, total reflux 2h at 54℃, and then collect methyl borate and methanol azeotrope. The azeotropic solution was treated with sulfuric acid and refined to get a pure product. The sodium hydride obtained by the action of hydrogen and sodium is sent into the condensation reaction tank, and heated to about 220℃ under agitation, methyl borate is added, and the heating stops at 260℃; The feeding temperature is controlled below 280℃, and the stirring is continued after feeding to make it fully react. After the reaction was completed, it was cooled to below 100℃ and centrifuged to obtain condensation product filter cake. Add an appropriate amount of water to the hydrolyzer, slowly add the filter cake to the hydrolyzer, control the temperature below 50℃, heat up to 80℃ after feeding, centrifugal separation, hydrolysate is sent to the stratifier for 1h, then automatic stratification, the lower hydrolysate is sodium borohydride solution. Its as below:
H3BO3+3CH3OH→B(OCH3)3+3H2O
2Na+H2→2NaH
4NaH+B(OCH3)3→NaBH4+3CH3ONa
【1 】 Used as reducing agent of aldehydes, ketones, acyl chloride, foaming agent of plastic industry, bleaching agent of paper making and hydrogenating agent of dihydrostreptomycin in pharmaceutical industry
【2】Sodium borohydride is a good reducing agent, it is characterized by stable performance, reduction when selective. It can be used as reducing agent for aldehydes, ketones and acyl chloride, foaming agent for plastics, hydrogenating agent for dihydrostreptomycin, intermediate for potassium borohydride, raw material for borane synthesis, and treatment agent for papermaking industry and mercury-containing wastewater, etc.
